Construction

During the construction of my trailer, I used a range of media technologies. Firstly, we used a Sony camera to film our shots for our trailer. Although different and more complex from the cameras I have used for my past tasks, it was still simple to use and allowed us to film a range of different shot types, using zooming plus we experimented with the night vision mode.  We used a tripod for the majority of our shots to ensure that they were stable and straight, however we did include some hand held shots which created an unstable and fragmented shot- highlighting the tension within the film.

After filming for our trailer we used a range of programmes to edit and construct the final product. We used Adobe Premiere Pro to cut, organise and add transitions to each of the clips. We used this programme to create the overall product as it was easy and simple to use. We also used this to edit the brightness and contrast on each of the clips, making it sharper and more professional. We also used Adobe After Effects to add titles and text to our trailer, adding specific conventions and creating meaning. We were able to pick from a range of fonts, backgrounds and add movement and transitions. This created flow within the text. Finally, we used Garageband to create our music. We used the loops tools to merge together a range of instruments and sounds which portrayed a certain tone to match our genre.

For my ancillary tasks, I used Photoshop to create my poster and magazine front cover. I have learnt a lot of skills within Photoshop over the years, therefore creating these products was simple. I used original images and merged them together to create different backgrounds, using the eraser tool to remove any parts that I didn't need. I could easily include all conventions of a film poster and film magazine covers, adding text and secondary images where needed. I could choose from a range of different fonts and colours, adding strokes to emphasise certain text.
